Sonic the Hedgehog will finally be making his big-screen debut and we couldn’t be more excited. If you think you need to get up to speed on the blue blur before he spins into the movie theatre, here’s everything you need to know about Sonic the Hedgehog.

Debuting in the 1991 Sega Genesis video game and headlining tons of games, cartoons, and comic books, Sonic is an anthropomorphic blue hedgehog with super-powered speed who fights Dr. Robotnik, an evil scientist is bent on world domination. And after 29 years of dominating all other forms of media, Sonic will at last be getting his due in a full-length theatrical adventure.

In the brand new feature film, Sonic is from another dimension and escapes from the clutches of Dr. Robotnik by travelling through a portal into our world. Robotnik wants to harness Sonic’s incredible super speed so he can use it for his nefarious mechanical inventions.

After escaping through the portal, Sonic ends up in the rural town of Green Hills, Montana, and causes an enormous power outage that catches the attention of Green Hills’ sheriff, Tom Wachowski. Once he meets Tom, the interdimensional hedgehog teams up with the local police officer to find his magical rings so he can return to his dimension and stop Robotnik.

However, the appearance of Sonic has caught the eye of the government and they hire none other than the mad doctor Robotnik to track the hedgehog down and capture him. The sinister scientist will use every dangerous invention in his arsenal to ensnare Sonic, but we’re putting our money on the hedgehog.

With a big studio budget, talented performers, and an attitude worthy of the blue blur himself, Sonic the Hedgehog is looking to be one of the must-see movies of 2020. Run, don’t walk, to the movie theatre when it opens on February 14!
