Respawn Entertainment unveiled a quick look at the Titanfall 2 single-player campaign today, showing off what looks like an expansive and gorgeous world. The teaser also hints at some of the drama and characters inhabiting the brand new addition to Titanfall 2. Check it out below.

This is an exciting addition to the series, especially after the first game received a heaping amount of criticism for what some saw as shallow solo content. Respawn Entertainment unveiled some new details about the fresh story this week, unveiling more information about the “cinematic shooter experience” they’re crafting with Titanfall 2. The story revolves around a new pilot and his relationship with his Titan, BT. You can see some of this in the first few seconds of the teaser, with his titan off in the distance saving the pilot’s life from alien life forms. Could this add some new humanity to both the armies and the Titans in this series?

“And when you think about it, every ‘buddy story’ has a kind of back and forth between its leads,” Game Director Steve Fukuda describes in a recent news post. “They have to be able to react to each other or there is no relationship. That’s why we provided players a few responses to choose from when talking to BT. While these dialogue options don’t change the outcome of the game, they give you a fun way to banter with BT by choosing the tone that best reflects your own personality.”

Despite the quick rise and fall of interest in the first Titanfall, the transition between smooth action combat as a pilot and hefty deliberate combat as a titan always felt wonderful. Having played a bit of Titanfall 2 at E3 this year, I can say assuredly that Titanfall 2 feels as good as the series ever did. With the addition of a story mode and a more interesting cast of characters, I have no doubt Titanfall 2 will shine when it releases later this year on October 28.
