If you’re a fan of Valiant Comics you know that they very recently canceled their flagship series X-O Manowar earlier this year. X-O Manowar was the first title published as part of their critically acclaimed 2012 reboot, and writer Robert Venditti concluded his five-year run with September’s issue #50. Fans were disappointed to see the series canceled with no future plans announced for the character. Earlier today, Valiant finally put out a press release…

There’s not a ton of information released. Valiant’s Marketing VP Hunter Gorinson said full details are to come next week, on Monday December 5th. We do however have a teaser image and a release date. The teaser image, with artwork by Monika Palosz (a newcomer to Valiant), simply says “War is Coming” with a picture of X-O Manowar’s helmet. The press release went on to say “Outside of this image, all we can confirm at present is that X-O Manowar will be returning with an all-new series in March… and it will not only be Valiant’s most important launch of the new year, but quite possibly of all time…” I for one could not be more excited considering Valiant’s excellent track record. Interestingly, this is also the same tagline Valiant used when they were originally announcing the X-O Manowar reboot in 2012.

This is good news especially for anyone worried about so many Valiant titles dropping off their weekly pull list. The end of 2016 seems to also be the end of most of Valiant’s ongoing books. Savage is a limited series that’s concluding, so is Britannia. Bloodshot U.S.A. is ending after 4 issues with no future plans announced for Bloodshot. Wrath of the Eternal Warrior is coming to an end in December. A&A: The Adventures of Archer & Armstrong will be ending in February. Divinity III: Stalinverse is kicking into high gear, but that’s also a limited series. Harbinger Renegade and Generation Zero seem to be just picking up, both of which are showing a lot of promise. The Faith ongoing series seems to be going strong, and Ninjak has not announced an end date despite rapidly approaching the “#25” that marks the end of most Valiant books. It looks like we’re going to be seeing a lot more big Valiant announcements in the coming months.
