It’s not the first time that someone playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has worked out a way to cross the entirety of Hyrule without touching the ground. But, this one player might have just taken the biscuit.
YouTuber mety333 managed to craft a unique flying contraption – we’re a little loath to call it a plane – and glide across the whole map in one smooth descent.
What they did was place a metal box on top of a mining cart, then used Link’s Magnesis ability to pull the cart, box and Link high up into the sky until they actually reached the game’s invisible ceiling. Doing that actually takes 90 seconds of pure ascension, so that gives you some idea of the effort it takes to pull off such a feat.
What’s even more impressive is that it then takes over seven minutes to glide from one side of the map to the other. The player started from Death Mountain in the north and ended up in the wilderness of the north-west snow fields, using a heck of a lot of stamina elixirs and dinners en route. Okay, so technically not all the way across the map, but hey, it’s still impressive.
This isn’t the first time a Zelda player has managed such a feat, though. At the end of March, a video emerged on YouTube showing Zelda player Yukinosan using bomb arrows to keep him afloat for over 7500m.
Yukinosan actually used the bomb arrows to create wind updrafts to keep the glider airborne for longer, utilising several bows and stamina elixirs in the process too. The journey started in the north-west region and finished on Eventide Island in the very south-east of the map. The entire journey took a whopping 22 minutes and they only got a measly 100 rupee reward for the endeavour.
