The ’90s are back in style, but before you start showing off your belly button with a crop top while listening to Pearl Jam on your Walkman, you’re going to want to sit down and enjoy some X-Men ’97 episodes. The hit new series from Marvel’s animation wing, this sequel show to the mega-popular X-Men: The Animated Series has been firing on all cylinders recently. With Season 1 ending on May 15, you might be hungry for more content starring Marvel’s merry mutants.

Fortunately, you can get a great interquel series in comic book form. These comic books bridge the gap between the original animated series and its revival, and it features an all-star team of creatives like Salva Espin, Matt Milla, Joe Sabino, and Steve Foxe. Preorders for the physical edition of the prelude X-Men ’97 comic series are live now at Amazon for $16 ahead of its November 26 release, but you can start reading today if you need some X-citing content on your life.

Like the TV series, there are twists, turns, and revelations aplenty, as the X-Men once again find themselves in the crosshairs of evil eugenecist Mr. Sinister and his Nasty Boyz. Someone is probably going to get punched in the face with some adamantium claws by the time this story is over. The 112-page trade paperback won’t be out for a while, but you can read the first two issues of X-Men ’97: Great Expectations now through either physical copies from your nearby comic book shop or as digital downloads via Amazon. The first issue costs $5, while the other three are $4 each.

Comixology Unlimited subscribers can save 15% on each issue, and beyond that, you can check out the vast library of comic books available through this Amazon-owned subscription service for only $6 per month. New Comixology subscribers can get a free 30-day trial to the service.
