YA Books You Should Read in September

Witnessme

Whoever said patience is a virtue never had to wait a whole year for the next book in a YA series. I swear it felt like September would never get here! We’ve been looking forward to this month for a number of reasons. One, the next installments in the Throne of Glass and Six of Crows series will be released in the upcoming weeks. I can’t be the only reader who is anxious to find out what happens to Elide Lochan or Inej Ghafa! Two, a new author’s debut novel is being published and boy has it piqued our interest!

This month is full of great new book releases from both old and new book series. Take a look and see if any of these are next on your reading list.

Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas

Empire of Storms by Sarah J Maas

Aelin Galathynius has returned to Terrasen after having defeated the King of Adarlan and killed her mentor, Arobynn. With the impending war, Aelin knows that before she can put her kingdom back together she must first slay the demon king Erawan. Will Aelin and her new court be able to win the war or will this be the end of the Fire-breathing Bitch-Queen? I have mixed feelings about this book. I’m excited because I love immersing myself in the worlds Sarah J. Maas creates. I’m also apprehensive because this is the second to last book in the series and I’m afraid someone important might die…like Rowan. Or Rowan. I don’t know if my shipper heart could take it!

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

Kaz Brekker and the Dregs have been double-crossed by Jan Van Eck. Now they must risk their lives to rescue one of their crew, learn more about the jurda parem drug, and survive a war that is brewing on the streets of Ketterdam.  A war that will either bring the ragtag group closer together or tear them apart. Six of Crows was one of my favorite books from last year. It reminded me so much of Ocean’s Eleven and I loved the alternating chapter perspectives. Hopefully, Crooked Kingdom will still have that carefree caper feeling.

A Shadow Bright and Burning by Jessica Cluess

Henrietta Howel is a lone female sorcerer among a sea of male magic wielders. She must learn to adjust to sorcerer life while training in London with Her Majesty’s sorcerers. Everyone thinks that Henrietta is the prophesied one but even she has her doubts. With a war coming, how much will she risk to save her new home and loved ones? The cover of this book is breathtaking and we can’t wait to learn more about Henrietta Howel.
