Pacific Rim Uprising is a sequel many fans are keeping an eye on. Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 original has garnered a following and the sequel has plenty to expand upon. We saw one good look at the film last year during New York Comic Con and we’ve been itching to see more.

Well, we’ve got a new trailer for you to pour over. Give it a watch!

The sequel is definitely diving even deeper into its Japanese roots. Unlike the original film, the color palette for Pacific Rim Uprising is much brighter with more shots taking place in broad daylight.

We’ll also get to see a new wave of Jaegers and Kaiju. Personally, Saber Athena is looking to be the coolest of the new batch. A giant robot that’s fast and uses twin laser swords? SOLD.

We’ll also be learning more about the Kaiju and where they come from in the sequel. It’s been said that we’ll discover exactly why they are invading Earth. Here’s hoping that explanation doesn’t get in the way of too much giant monster fighting.

John Boyega will be heading up the cast as Jake Pentecost, the son of the deceased hero Stacker Pentecost and the brother of Jaeger pilot Mako Mori. Jake is a reluctant hero, who’s more concerned partying instead of piloting. He’ll be in charge of co-piloting the new Gipsy Avenger alongside Scott Eastwood, a Jaeger designed to honor the beloved Gipsy Danger from the first film.

Pacific Rim Uprising will stomp its way into theaters on March 23.
